We are pleased to announce a new partnership with Ecclesfield Parish Council – the team at the parish council have explained why they are joining with the Steel Valley Project and what they hope to achieve over the next year.
We are medium sized Parish Council located in the north of Sheffield and cover Ecclesfield, Chapeltown, High Green, Thorncliffe, Burncross and Grenoside.
Improving the countryside and the environment in general is a top priority for the Council. We are proud of our achievements in this area, such as having fully biodegradable dog poo bags available free of charge for our Parish members. Arranging community skip days for our residents to responsibly dispose of rubbish and help combat fly tipping. We have planted hundreds of trees, implemented a bee-squared project to improve our bee population and work to support our Parish hedgehog community. For our work to protect hedgehogs, we were awarded Hedgehog Hero status by the British Hedgehog Preservation Society. We recognise, however, that there is still much more to be done. We, like all Parish Councils only have limited resources.
We have seen the fantastic work that the Steel Valley Project has done in the local area and the positive impact it is having. In a nutshell, we want to both support them and be part of their journey. We strongly believe that much more can be done while working in partnership rather than in isolation. We are looking forward to working with them to deliver a wide and diverse range of environmental projects within the Parish to benefit the environment.
