The team recently carried out work at Cross Farm in Bradfield as part of the Farming in Protected Landscapes (FIPL) Gateways to the Peak project. The focus of the work was to improve accessibility along a steep and often slippery pathway.
A new series of steps was installed to make the route safer and easier to use, while an old wooden gate was replaced with a kissing gate to improve access. Peak Park Rangers also restored the surrounding dry stone walls, which had begun to crumble over time.
In addition, improvements were made to wet and boggy sections of the path by introducing materials to improve drainage, helping to create a more durable and accessible route for visitors. This project forms part of the ongoing work that FIPL fund.
