1069 Volunteering hours, 10km of paths improved, 12 hectares of land improvements – just some of the amazing achievements over the past year. The Steel Valley Project has worked with a great range of local community groups including schools, “friends of” groups and members of the local community, who are all striving to make our local area a better place Our hard working volunteers continue to play a pivotal role in all we do, a wide range of fantastic volunteers give up their time to volunteer and work with us often in all weathers
One of our key projects has included our Stocksbridge and Bradfield natural flood management programme (NFM ) creating leaky dams and ponds as well as planting trees keeping rainwater in the higher reaches of the catchment areas for longer helping to protect homes and businesses
