Kate’s main responsibility is the delivery of practical project work supported by the volunteer team.
Kate also recruits volunteers, delivers training and supervision to regular volunteers, trainees and community groups, maintains the tools and equipment, works with project partners and landowners and ensures careful planning and development of the various project work.
Kate has lived and worked in countryside for over 30 years with particular experience of trees and woodlands and sustainable rural land management. Part of the SVP staff team since 2008, Kate has carried out a range of projects in the area including wetland area and wildlife garden installations, small woodland management, environmental workshops with schools, carrying out traditional rural skills such as coppicing, hedge-laying and dry stone walling. Kate has varied technical and academic qualifications that support SVP’s specialised provision of public access management, wildlife habitat management and implementing landscaping infrastructures on public land.
At home Kate maintains a productive organic wildlife-friendly allotment, enjoys walking & hiking in the countryside and cultivating her rural crafts and DIY skills.
