Environmental education and interpretation

The Steel Valley Project delivers education work with schools alongside interpretative activities with the wider public in order to help develop respect and understanding for our cultural and natural heritage.

We work with schools to improve school grounds as outdoor classrooms, as well as providing support to schools to encourage the use local green spaces within walking distance. Click on Learning for more information.

Interpretative activities have been delivered for the wider public via Forest School type events and ‘Positive Activities for Young People’ during school holidays, along with guided walks covering a wide range of themes including local history and natural history. Click on What’s happening for more information.

The Steel Valley Project delivered the Stone to Steel Project, a HLF-funded programme whose objective was to explore the rich heritage of the Don Valley. Click on Sites and Trails for more information, as well as downloadable leaflets and self guided walks.
