Encouraging access

The Steel Valley Project works to encourage access to green spaces and the wider countryside by both local people and those from further afield.

Access projects delivered include the development of new footpaths and other public rights of way, as well as repairing and improving existing routes through resurfacing and drainage.

In addition, we work to help people with a range of mobility abilities by replacing old gates and stiles and installing other countryside furniture, such as steps, benches and way markers.

This work is achieved through working with landowners and Rights of Way Officers from local authorities.

Guided walks, activities for young people and producing trails leaflets are delivered by the Steel Valley Project to help individuals explore the countryside and feel comfortable in these areas.
