Projects are delivered by the Steel Valley Project, (SVP) in partnership with land
owners and other agencies.
Work under taken by the SVP usually includes one or more of the four activities outlined
With project partners, management objectives and priorities are agreed; available
resources and costs are drawn to establish a budget.
Any gaps in this budget to deliver the project can be identified and additional funds
may be developed by the SVP from external funders if required.
Funds successfully bid for and managed by the SVP have included; SRB, ERDF, European
Objective 1 (Measures 23, 24 & 25), INTEREG IIIb, Heritage Lottery Fund, LEADER programme,
Trusts and Landfill Tax. This has resulted in more than a million pounds being generated
for environmental projects since 2006.
Project delivery is normally by SVP staff working with its volunteer trainee team
and local groups to deliver the project. In some instances it is appropriate for
the SVP to engage and manage additional contractors or associates to achieve larger
scale capital works or specialist undertakings. Where possible, opportunities are
offered to local businesses, especially those started by ex SVP volunteers.
The SVP can also tender as a contractor to deliver projects that fit in with its
objectives outlined in services.
